Salsa Tel Aviv - Feature, Israel 2011
Director: Johanna Waller
Vicky is a Mexican salsa dancer, a single-parent, who leaves her little son with her mother and flies to Israel disguised as a nun in pursuit of Bhutto - a friend, who is the father of her son.
On the plane, Vicky meets Yoni, a young Israeli scientist returning to Israel from a research trip to marry Dafna, his wealthy girlfriend. During the long flight an amusing, special, and strange friendship develops between them.
In Israel, Vicky and Bhutto are illegal aliens. They work daytime at odd jobs and at night teach and dance to the happy beat of salsa. But the immigration police persecute them. Bhutto is caught and Vicky is forced to flee and hide until she is discovered and thrown out onto the street. In her distress she turns to Yoni, who gives her shelter and hides her in his home - against Dafna's wishes.
