My Own Daughter - Documentary, 50 minutes, Israel 1998
Honorable Mention - Jerusalem Festival (Volgin)
Director: Mooly Landesman
Sivan, a 22-year-old kibbutznik, lives in Tel Aviv and works in a small laundry. Hers sees a normal life, but her life is torn between everyday reality and her past; a past that contains love, confusion and especially pain.
It's an unbearable pain caused by her father who sexually assailed her, by the institutions that are not sensitive enough, the silence of the kibbutz and its imperviousness, the indifference of the police and the prosecution, and the family that does not know how to cope .
With rare courage, Sivan and her family overcomes the silence and fight to be heard.
